Cool Springs Golf Center offers a FULL-TIME, YEAR ROUND program of GOLF INSTRUCTION, headed by TRI-STATE PGA 2006 INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR, BOB SALERA.  Golfers can choose from a wide variety of options, including PRIVATE, SEMI-PRIVATE, GROUP LESSONS & CLINICS, and our NEW SPECIALTY CLASSES “DRIVING YOUR BALL”…  “HOW TO HIT YOUR IRONS”…& “CHIPPING & PUTTING”.  JUNIOR PROGRAMS are offered YEAR ROUND, rain or shine, and experienced PGA professionals are available SEVEN DAYS a WEEK!  3 TO 1 GOLF CLINICS FORMING THIS SPRING!

Head of Instruction

BOB SALERA, PGA

Bob Salera has been the Head Professional and Director of Instruction at Cool Springs Golf School since 1997.  A PGA of America member since 1991, Bob oversees a staff of six teaching professionals and a full service pro shop dedicated to meeting the needs of the golfing public. Bob is also on the national teaching staff of the ESPN Golf Schools as a lead instructor, and travels throughout the U.S. instructing at the schools. Since 2004, Bob has been named one of the nations “TOP 50” golf instructors at a range facility by Golf Range Magazine.  Since 2006 Bob has been named one of “ Pennsylvania ’s Best Instructors” by Golf Digest Magazine.  In 2006 he was named the TRI-State PGA sections Teacher of the Year.  Bob and his wife Terry live with their two children, Danny and Rachel in Bethel Park , Pa.

CARMEN COSTA, PGA

Carmen joined the Professional teaching staff at Cool Springs in February of 2006, and has been a very popular and “in-demand” teacher since then. A PGA of America member since 1992, Carmen spent 17 years at the Butler’s Golf Course serving as Head Golf Professional. An excellent player, Carmen uses his experience and knowledge to help develop the total game of all of his students regardless of skill level. He believes in a philosophy of teaching that allows each student to find their most comfortable and effective method of swinging within acceptable physical laws. In 2010, Carmen received the prestigious TRI-State PGA “Teacher of the Year” award. He and his wife, Bobbie, live in South Park.

BOB SWANSON, PGA

Bob Swanson started in the golf industry in 1989 working as a teaching pro at Cool Springs Golf Center .  Bob has been a Class A, PGA professional since 1996.  He also worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Mt. Lebanon Golf Club, and as a Head Professional at Cedarbrook Golf Course.  Bob has been an active instructor for the Pittsburgh Youth Golf Foundation, providing golf instruction to inner city youth; and has taught the Community College of Allegheny golf classes the past 14 years.  Bob and his wife Joyce reside in Churchill.

BILL REILLY

Bill Reilly joined the Cool Springs teaching staff in December 2004.  AN outstanding local player, “Bulldog” as he is affectionately known, won many tournaments and set several scoring records in college.  Bill qualified for the USGA Public Links Championships in 1980 and 1982, and is still today an excellent player.  Bill is currently registered in the PGA Apprentice Program and is working towards class A membership.  Bulldog enjoys working with players of a skill levels, and especially enjoys the challenge of developing junior golfers.  Bill and his wife Jeanne live in Upper Saint Clair with daughters Amber and Rachel.

DAN REILLY

Dan Reilly has been teaching at Cool Springs since the Spring of 1998.  In those years, Dan has helped countless students learn and enjoy the game of golf.  Dan is also a very accomplished player, having qualified for the USGA Public Links Championships 3 times.  He is especially proud of the achievements of his many Junior golfers, a number of which have competed in and won many local and regional events.  Dan has given an estimated 8,000 private lessons in his teaching career.  Dan his wife Regina , and their two sons Jacob and Daniel reside in Castle Shannon.

JOHN HENK

John Henk has been teaching golf at Cool springs Golf Center since 1997.  A tireless instructor, John has taught hundreds of students and thousands of lessons since then.  John is especially effective with experienced players, although he has helped golfers of all levels and ages improve their game.  John was certified in the Nicklaus-Flick philosophy in 1998 and spent many years in the PGA Training Program.  A fine player as well as teacher, he enjoys competing locally when his schedule allows, and also was a nationally ranked tennis player in his younger years.  John lives in Upper Saint Clair with his wife, Patty.

MISSIE BERTEOTTI, LPGA

Missie is the newest addition to the Professional Teaching Staff at Cool Springs.  Missie qualified for the LPGA Tour in 1985 and competed in the U.S. Women’s Open, the beginning of a 14 year career on the LPGA Tour.  Missie a local Upper Saint Clair High School graduate, won the WPIAL / PIAA Ladies Golf Championship and qualified for the PGA National Junior Championship, finishing 8th in 1981, before beginning her college career at the University of Miami, where she had a 2nd place finish in the NCAA National Championship in 1984, and was also named MVP of the NCAA Japan Golf Competition.  From 1985 to 1999, Missie competed in many LPGA Tour events, including major championships like the U.S Women’s Open, DuMurier Classic, and Weetabix British Open.  In 1995 Missie crossed the $1 Million milestone in career earnings.  Missie is also an avid Pilates / Yoga instructor, resides in Presto, with her son Sam, and enjoys teaching Junior Clinics and adults of all ages and experience levels.
